The little metal filters are light enough that IMHO I would not worry about mounting them. The more important thing is that they ARE metal, not any of the commonly available glass or plastic versions. I know it is SO tempting to use those glass filters with the replaceable elements and I have done it myself to see what was coming through, but other than troubleshooting they are way too fragile for routine use.

Wow, those are fancy, but should work just fine. Be sure to mind the ID of the hose as compared to the OD of the electric blue fittings!-Shawn

See post #10 for what worked for me.
You will probably need to use some ethanol proof pipe dope.
Careful twisting nipples into the soft aluminum carburetor to tightly. You can split the carburetor at the inlet.

Sorry.. my comment was meant as a little tongue-in-cheek but you brought a good point. With the ethanol, does anyone know if Permatex 2 is resistant? I don't see it listed, just alcohol and oil, grease resistant.
Good to know about the carb 'fragility'!Greg

Been a while but now that the cleaned carb is back on the engine I was able to get the fuel pressure gauge and polishing filter installed. Little more hose used than I was wanting but the space is tight and this worked.
Carb cable to adjust, new wire harness and gauges all installed, time for spring commissioning

Greg, looking good..the pressure gauge instantly tells you if you have a fuel delivery problem. While 3-4 PSI seems nominal, I've seen mine run just fine as low as 1 PSI too, while motoring thru a precarious mooring field.
In that particular instance, water got in the tank from a failed o-ring in the fuel filler and the water overwhelmed the Racor so bad that it was barely passing any fuel.Last edited by sastanley; 05-05-2018, 11:45 PM.-Shawn
