Is the carb clean and dry but if you drain the float bowl the fuel is black?
Or is it that the carb has black liquid in the throat visible if you take the flame arrestor off?

Make sure the wire that goes to the coil is feeding voltage to the alternator. That is what tells it to turn on.
If that alternator is beat there are a number of good replacements available :cool:

The A4 uses the engine oil for the transmission. As for the gas, I have never tried kerosene to clean anything. Not saying it wouldn't work.
