I recently finished my trip from Massachusetts to Florida.
For the past 3+ weeks I was motoring (with jib out when possible) south in the ICW
in some very warm water -- 79-83F. I've never run in water this temperature before.
I noticed my FWC engine temperature, which normally runs a crack above 160
was at 180-190 and after some time the oil pressure, which is usually a tad
less than 40psi would get down to 30.
I think my engine had insufficient cold water and was finding a new thermal
equilibrium point.
What I found odd was that after a 20 minute stop for fuel the oil pressure would
stay at the 38psi level for 30 or 60 minutes before dropping down again.
This is really not a problem or a question, more of a report, maybe someone will
learn something from my experience.
