We are fairly new to boat ownership and we're finding that it is a pleasantly challenging with rewards that are beyond description.

We plan to retire in about 12 years and cruise full-time after that. We'll be upgrading to a 35 or so in about 6 years and then a few years after that start hunting for the retirement boat.

We are currently at Farley State Marina (Trump Marina) and enjoy every minute that we spend down there. It is a FUN place to be and there never is a problem finding something to do. Feel free to stop by any time for a cold one or a day out on the water.

I would love to stop by for a visit (and a hot shower), but at $4/foot
it's much cheaper to stay on the other side of the river in the
pond behind Brigantine. I don't think a lot of A4 owners are exactly
    rolling in dough.

      Jack and Coleen:

That has been my experience, too. The fixing up and just being down at the marina is worthwhile and fun endeavor in itself. I just moved from a really beautiful and fairly expensive marina with a view of the Seattle skyline. It's easy to justify the extra expense if you consider your place a "home on the water." Where in the world can you get a place you can sleep with a million dollar view for a few hundred bucks a month? The docks are usually wider and cleaner, too. I moved mainly to get my little yacht closer to home so I could hang out more often and turn travel time into time sipping on one of those cold ones you mentioned. And, yes, it was less expensive but still beautiful.

Seattle is a long way from NJ so here's a toast to far away friends.
