Grayco is still the hardware store here yes. I use regular rubber heater hose and I change zinc’s regularly. One repair shop I spoke to said the life of a copper heat exchanger is about 5 years. My question on this post was answered right away about the water draining out that is. Thank you guys...

Our heat exchanger died in Florida. So I’ve only been running raw water cooling for about a month. I do plan to replace the heat exchanger when we get back to Vermont in about another month. I will acid flush the engine before I switch back to freshwater

Thanks Dave, I did do the impeller already the other day as a beginning of my tests. I did find today some scale in the cooling hoses before the thermostat housing. I got that all cleaned up. I think the biggest issue was I was not closing the through hull and I was getting air pockets. I’ve just...

Raw water draining out
Hello Everyone,Is it normal for a raw water cooled engine to drain down after shutdown? I have been having erratic temperature readings and started pulling hoses to check for blockage. I was surprised that the head and manifold were dry at the upper ends. I did not explore how far down it had drained....
