Oil Passage Plugs

Hi,

Just starting to get my block back together, I have run into a conundrum. The machine shop installed my oil passage plugs, but reading over the manual and double checking, the plugs do not seem to line up with what is written.

Reading the passage in the manual, it sounds like there should be 6 plugs, three inside the block and three outside.

I am finding 5 outside, and 1 on the surface which the oil pan will mount too.

I have included pics of the manual passage I am reading, and pics of the plugs I have found. Can anyone verify if these are in fact the 6 oil passage plugs? Or am I missing something...

Here is the manual :


These seem to be the three "on the outside of the block", behind the flywheel, center of the block, and at the rear, just above the oil pressure regulating valve :


This appears to be the one "just below the regulating valve"


Which leaves these two, which according the the manual should be "at each end of the block, just above the end cam bearings" and insinuated that they are inside the block, since the others are specifically "outside of the block" but these are outside, and on the opposite side from the cam..


So are these the plugs I am looking for?

The last two are water jacket drain plugs.

Ah, thanks! I guess that means I still need to locate the other two oil passage plugs... (they shouldn't be this hard to find I wouldn't think)

Found em! Boy I feel silly. I didn't look at the ends of the block, which will be on the inside once all the pieces are on. Including pics in case someone as silly as me want to see them later....

Was that block bead blasted or hot tanked, or what? It's very clean.

Hot tanked I assume, I do not think they bead blasted it (I just asked'em to clean it up) It did come out good eh? Soon it will be better once I get it painted

Did they pull out the camshaft bearings first?

If they used a caustic solution, which as I understand it is typical, it can damage the cam bearings if they were still in the block at the time.

Yep, cam bearings where removed and then put back in after the cleaning.
