1974 Ericson 27
Would anyone know the correct dimensions for the shaft on a 1974 Ericson 27? My diver just called and informed me the my shaft is bent at the cotter pin hole. So, as I have a new Indigo prop to put on, I guess I need to replace the shaft. Deep Blue as great prices on shafts, but I need the dimensions and transmission type in order for them to make the shaft and coupler. And I guess I might as well put a new PSS Shaft seal on while its out of the water. Any help out there?

For possibly more answers, ask this question on the Ericson forum at:
http://www.ericsonyachts.org/mainframe.htm I also have a '73 E27. Sorry don't know the shaft details. However, for the PSS seal, measure carefully, get the dimensions and make sure it will fit. Not much room. I did this a few years back and I think what they had then will fit. I have one of the older models from another mfgr and their current model won't fit. That's definitely the way to go, though. No more water in the bilge or contorting yourself to adjust the packing.

Hi There,
I have a 74 e27 as well and will be hauling my boat next month for a new shaft coupling, prop shaft and indigo prop I may even go with a dripless. I was wondering myself about the shaft dimensions...I know it is a 3/4 inch shaft but as far as taper etc is concerned the yard advised me to wait until they pull it, then we can have it replicated at a local shop. |
