Has the forum made you a customer?
We all appreciate the forum environment we enjoy for the intellectual conversation, exchange of ideas, experience and advice but how has it translated to parts sales for MMI? Here is a simple yes or no poll asking if your experience on the forum has motivated you to purchase parts, kits, specialty tools or maybe even a coffee mug from MMI.

I also tend to point out the correct Moyer part to solve the problem at hand in threads.

A good place to be!
Frankly I wasn't here for the parts although I have made a few purchases. A personal friend of mine ran a marine engine shop that carried the A-4. He gave me many spares and assorted original parts as I needed them in exchange for some valve guide tooling and tool sharpening.
What I enjoyed most about this forum is that I have a place to share my knowledge of engines with others "wanting" to learn. I know know how much my father and grandfather enjoyed teaching me from an early age and this site allowed me that experience. It also allowed me to learn of many of the A-4 idiosyncrasies, strengths and weaknesses while dealing with many wonderful people. Thanx Don, Bill and the entire MMI Forum!! Dave Neptune |

when I first got my boat six years ago, I found this site. The way I figured it was that you get parts from the people that know the motors. simple

I have known Don since before this forum. He had a newsletter back in the late 90s. I met him at a workshop he gave. I think that was in 95. I had a Columbia 22 and was shopping for more waterline length. Most boats had an Atomic Four and I heard they were a problem. Then I found MMI and felt that having an Atomic Four would be fine with MMI supporting them. Dons personality sealed the deal. I have found that MMI has what I need for a great price.

Forum made me a customer
The Forum has definitely made me a customer ... Not to mention that Ken or Don have actually walked me through the install ... When needed .
If you are newbie to Atomic 4 ( as I was) , this site is a Goldmine of collected wisdom . Please keep it going !

Yes indeed it has. Virtually everything I buy for the care and feeding of my A4 has come from Moyer. And, I want to add my thanks to all of you who have managed, supported and added your experience and expertise to the forum. I have contributed virtually nothing to the forum but every time I have a concern or question, this is where I go first, middle, and last before I do anything. Thank you all!

I'm pretty sure I made a few of Don's Porsche payments.

Calculations
Against sound advice not to do so, I have started jotting down the expenses I’ve had since purchasing this lil yachty two years ago and started with MMI invoices. I would have never known about this forum had it not popped up during a google search of A4 mechanics in the South Bay here in Los Angeles. Since discovering the forum two years ago, I have calculated invoices in the amount of $1896.43 (including shipping). So about $1000 per year. I will re-post with what the number translates to percentage-wise in comparison to other places I’ve used to obtain parts etc.

Yes. I am thankful for the parts and the expertise...
I have started to post after monitoring and using this resource for 5 months. Excited to learn and grow with this community. And find ways to sustain the mother ship MMI. Grateful. Stay well. Tim

Perentage
Total cost (including purchase price, replacement engine, bottom paint, top deck paint, parts, tools etc.): ~$15.5k. This doesn’t include slip fee, insurance or monthly bottom cleaning. Thus, I spent ~12% at MMI.

Absolutely!
Have bought every bit and piece from Moyer for my loyal A4. Now, I will be buying big time from the Moyers as had massive fail today that landed my rig against the Ashley River bridge due to bad judgement. Rig is okay, but engine may be toast and will be posting on another thread. Y’all are the best. And stay well!

Wrestling with fuel and carb diagnostic....this forum has been awesome. The MMI manual has filled in some of the carb disassembly gaps that I needed help with. Thankful. Tim

The cycle of life....
...years of replacement parts, then rebuild parts, and then a rebuilt Moyer engine.....followed by more maintenance parts! Learned so much along the way. Helped a couple of other sailors keep their boats going....with more parts!
