Lifters
I think I made an error when dissembling the A4. I kept the valves all per cylinder, but mixed up the lifters. Does it matter if I don't get them back in the same hole? I have enclosed a pic of a random sampling. The reason I think it was an error is because a mechanic told me to keep them labelled per cylinder and valve. Also, does anyone have a picture of the oil adjustment. I disassembled the engine but left it intact and the machinist removed it and can't seem to locate anything that resembles it. The machine shop I went to was part of CARQUEST. It all started out OK, but they took nine weeks to get the work done and went over their guestimate on price. They bored the cylinders .010, valve job including new seats, turned the crank down .010, installed new cam bearings and milled the head. Total cost was $780. I have no idea if the price is good or high.

If they don't bind when you re-install them, no harm, no foul. If one does stick, swap it for another.

Thanks for the response. As far as the oil adjusting goes it looks like it is all there, but since I did not remove it, reassembly will be interesting. I guess I should just order another o ring type washer for it.
