A4 Rebuild
Thought I'd post a few before / after shots of the rebuild. It started with a cracked cylinder head & exhaust issues ... then some valve issues ... then some corrosion issues ... and ended with a local shop doing a rebuild of a freshwater block using the 'best-of' three separate engines (my original RWC engine, the FW 'short-block' provided by the shop and a disassembled FW engine I obtained from a buddy for the price of a bottle of scotch and a bottle of gin). I'll post some better pictures of the process, and finished installation, including HX, shortly.

Your first picture clearly shows how the batteries "waste" (IMO) premium space in the engine room. Moving them to a remote location will not significantly affect voltage drop if you use #2 cable.

For all, there's another thread over in 'cooling system' where I'm discussing moving the upper battery to the port cockpit locker and moving the heat exchanger over to the port side, and then using some of this reclaimed space for electrical panel.

Priceless
value? As they say in the Visa commercial: "priceless"
good work. i recognize the C&C engine room. Did the rebuild happen on the boat?

Looks great! Another one (doesn't) bite the dust!
Worth its weight in gold paint, at least! |
