Hanley this is the salt water pump which only goes thru the
heat exchanger and never reaches the block

The freshwater pump which has antifreeze also has the lubriplate

But it was mentioned that since it was in antifreeze it was ok.

Does this mean that both pumps are okay for now without removing
the lubriplate?

I certainly will not use it again

Best Regards

I use TFP paste. It's made for this sort of job. Works great.
In fact I use TFP paste on anything water related - threads, barbs, gaskets.

TRUE GRIT

Edit: Not impellers, of course. I just prime 'em.

British Seagull used lubriplate to fill the lower unit of their outboard motors

think it did any damage in the 50 plus years they used it.
I was more concerned about the impeller and the O ring that is why I lubed
it with what I had on hand. The o ring will seep if no coating of grease
or petroleum. Link to lubriplate below.

I just found another can of the lubriplate in my garage. It is #115 water pump lubricant. Is this lithium or somethine else??

I just spoke to their tech suppor t 800 733 4755. They assured me that 115 does not contain lithium and is made of calcium and is fine with aluminum , iron. IT is
specifically for water pump lubrication

Thank you for all of your valuable input. BTW, I do have some actual
lithium grease in my garage and I will be sure NOT to use it on my
brakes. Just wanted to be sure.

Very Best Regards for all of the inputs

Art - The Lubriplate for brakes does contain lithium and that is ok. What I have learned here is that there are a number of different versions of "Lubriplate" and not all contain lithium.
