Bulb in fuel line

Years ago I put a bulb in the fuel line to verify and/or deliver fuel to the carb for first start of the day. It occured to me, my electric fuel pump should be enough to bring the fuel to the carb by simply turning the key in the on position, just like an automobile.

I'm replacing my fuel line and thinking of removing the bulb, to have less possible chances of leakage.

Any thoughts?

Thumbs up Good idea

Dave, a good idea. They're prone to leaks and are not approved below deck.
The key should not run the pump on "run" but will pump on "start" while starting. Once started the OPSS will feed power to the pump when running with oil preassure at the OPSS, just an FYI.

Dave,

That makes sense. Off with the bulb.

Thanks for your input.

Wow...#65...that is an OLDIE. The oldest one I've seen pics of is #8..A guy over in Washington state did a thorough restoration and then sold her and bought a trawler!

Shawn,

Yep she's one of the originals from year 1. A classic, I plan to keep her seaworthy as long as I can. I feel as long as I have her, I'm responsible to keep her in shape for the next skipper.
