    Unidentified Alternator

I am rewiring my Engine based on the DC schematic I found on this website. I don't have any background with engines or wiring. Based on the schematic I used an inline 40 amp fuse from the solenoid to the starting switch. My problem is that my alternator doesn't look anything like the one in the schematic and I am worried that I have done this incorrectly and the fuse is too small. I know that the alternator is a Prestolite. I don't have any specs on it though. I have a battery switch but for now I am keeping it simple with only one battery. Any guidance would be much appreciated. I have uploaded a picture of the alternator. Thanks.

Both the wire and the fuse seem a little small to me. I am not sure exactly what alternator that is, but even the very smallest is a 35 amp unit. I use 4 gauge wire and a 100 amp breaker on mine FYI.
