    Idle adjusting question

Hello all, I have a 72 Pearson 30 and I need to lower the idle speed, it runs at about 2500 at the moment ( judging by the sound of the engine) I have a friend who also has a atomic 4 and it runs a lot slower and less noisy
I’m still learning about the motor, it runs great but too fast which I think is the reason the transmission is hard to shift.
    Thank you all in advance

It may be just an adjustment of the throttle stop screw at the carburetor. Try that first. It's a common misadjustment.

The first did the idle speed change on it's own or have you been working on the carb. If not check to see if the cable housing is secure at both ends. You can disconnect the cable from the carb and if the engine idles it is just checking the connections on the cable and the housing of the cable.
Moving the throttle lever while running will also let you know if something slipped. If you can slow the idle that way you must check the cable and housing fastenings.
It is not uncommon for a control cable to slip.

Otherwise it is simply adjust the idle stop screw on the carb throttle arm to a satisfactory idle.

        Video of your motor idling...

Would be great to hear your motor.

        I have a 1974 P30.

Fred(?), did you check the idle stop screw and/or the linkage?
