A Cal-34 built in "69" named "Margarita"

I recently acquired a 1969 Cal-34 named Margarita. I mentioned to my wife that she is a "69" named Margarita and this was divine intervention. She kinda laughed at me and said "why not". Margarita has been a bit neglected over the past couple of years, but not abused. Fuel needed attention and a carb kit and now the A4 purrs like a kitten. I have some more work to do but she in in sound condition. If anyone has experience with the boom set up on the early model Cal-34 I could use some help. There is something missing on the outhaul. Anyone familiar with this? It seems that a wire that should run thru the boom is gone and I cant tell what kind of setup is supposed to be there to increase or decrease mainsail tension. Any info????

I am going down a similar carb/fuel path with my Pearson 30. Encouraged by early results and discovered after purchase that engine had a pretty good pedigree here on forum SMosher posts about my boat/engine. Successor owners less kind to Oasis yet mostly in great shape. Carb disassembly cleaning, fuel tank cleaning this weekend.

Regarding the outhaul in the boom. Without opening up the boom there's no way to tell what you have. I think my T30 was 4:1 advantage, your Cal 34 may be happy with 5:1.
With my 4:1 system, there was a double block at the aft end of the boom. Its shackle attached to the wire that attached to the clew. This block moved forward in the boom as you tightened the outhaul. The fwd end had a single block with a becket, fixed by its shackle to a thru bolt in the boom. The tail of the tackle came out the fwd end of the boom, around a sheave, and then to a cleat on the bottom of the boom. This was a retrofit Kenyon boom, replacing the original roller furl boom.
Outhauls aren't too difficult compared to the clap-trap that you get inside the boom with single line reefing!

IF the outhaul is factory original and IF my memory hasn't failed me entirely, the CALs of that era were basic boats with basic rigs and no internal anything, halyards, outhauls or anything else you can think of. When Bayou produces a picture I expect that is what we will see.

Last report I saw last night, it looked like Sally's track had started moving eastward, which would put you on the milder western side of the storm.

I have some pics but cant attach them to a reply. I have them stored in my attachments, but how do you attach them to a post? I went to the FAQ section and it said to click on the arrow next to the attachment icon to add. I click and it brings me to the manage attachments screen, but then what?
