Need Gauge Recommendations

Hello,
In the process of restoring my boat I plan on replacing all of my current gauges to include the Oil pressure, water temp, ammeter and adding a Tach and fuel level gauge. Do you fine folks have recommendation on good high quality reliable gauge brands? Thanks much.

Marty, pretty much all major brands are good, Stewart Warner, AutoMeter, Victron etc. Most have marine quality available as well. Our host has some excellent gages too. Choose what you think looks good as you are the one looking.

I suggest not using a standard ammeter as so much power is lost in the run. A good volt meter for the cockpit is just fine and if you do want an ammeter I strongly suggest going with a "shunt" type. They are reliable and quite accurate and do not draw so much of a load do to the length of the run back and forth to the cockpit.

Thanks guys for your advice. I am leaning to the ones on the Moyer site but just wanted to see what else is out there. Great advice on the shunt ammeters. Thanks again.
