    Trans Shift Cable Frozen?

After three months of disuse, the pedestal mounted Ranger 33 shift lever wouldn't budge. Freed up the reverse with Marvel but into forward shift is still stuck. My Mechanic says the cable is not simple and if frozen must be replaced at large expense. I can only think of feeding penetrating oil as far as it will travel down the cable and rocking the shift lever to break loose, or maybe just plain break.

Mechanic says his earlier adjustment of a slipping forward (no detent) has nothing to do with this. I think it may have everything to do and I have a slight rememberance of you mentioning a finer adjustment newly available, which would avoid a gross adjustment problem, such as I think I may have. I don't think Kaminsky was involved?

    Good Health,

    Bob,

Before doing anything else, I recommend removing the cable at the shifting lever on the engine and checking the adjustment of the reversing gear in the engine itself.
