Where does the fuel hose attach to the MMI carb? The manual's diagram labels don't match the names in the text, and so on; the videos show it off the engine. Photos I have seen don't match what I have on my A4: fuel hose goes in straight behind, not the side. Also my scavenger tube is going into a spacer instead of the manifold. My question: why these differences and should I change it? I have had to rebuild, clean, replace the carburetor -- so maybe my install configuration isn't the best. Your comments?

Get the MMI manual
I don't know of a different fuel inlet. You can install a fitting that faces any direction.
The scavenge tube is fine. Some like myself enjoy a clean box and cabin by using the PCV system that requires the spacer. Both are on the same side of the butterfly so they will suck just fine. I got a longer tube and installed back into the manifold.

thanks for the replies and photos
Thanks for the replies. Nice photos. Yup, mine goes in straight from behind (straight connector) into the middle aft end, just around the corner from what you show in your photo. So I am confirming it is not the same place! What difference is this causing if any? Been this way for so many years but I do need frequent carb cleanings.

No difference, both ports go into the same bowl inside the carburetor. Use the one of your choice for convenient hose routing, plug the other with a 1/8" pipe plug.Neil

Shawn, I never had an issue. I just installed it and the only adjustment I made was to idle at 700 instead of 600 and a slight tweak of the idle adjustment to the rich side. She idled like a rock and never died idling in gear or going into gear. My compression was 70,80,85,90 with my gage, regular gas with some top oil most of the time and stock plugs @ .045 with the EI.
All I could suggest is double check the part number of your valve to be sure it was the one Indigo supplied. I have heard of some idle issues but never got my hands on one of those. I installed a few for others with no issues at all. Might be a defective valve or a sticky one from dirt possibly.
