Question about inline fuel filter kit

Hi All,

I would like to add the inline fuel filter as well as replace my fuel line. I see in the picture for the Moyer kit that there are a few brass fittings. What are they for?

I imagined that I'd just cut the hose, insert the filter and install the two clamps. There must be a little more to the installation than I have in mind.

Thank you for any insight! Regards, Rob

You can install an inline filter just the way you described.

Rob, The kit is there I think for folks like me that had the stock mech. fuel pump arrangement. THere was a hard brass/copper line between the pump & carb, so the hose, extra fittings & clamps were to allow the install of the polishing filter in between the pump & carb by eliminating that hard line and adding a hose barb to the pump outlet & carb inlet. Moyer also sells fuel line by the foot, so you could probably just get some fuel line and the filter by itself.

Ah, I see. Yes, I still have the brass line between pump and carb, and it doesn't give me any trouble. I had imagined installing the polishing filter before the mech. pump. Is there any reason to NOT install it that way?

Regards, Rob

The mechanical pump's sediment bowl is supposed to have a screen in it to catch stuff, and then I think the bowl itself is designed so that if any water makes it down the line it would sit in the bottom of the bowl and the gas would float on top.

I don't know if there is any issue with installing it before the pump..
