seeping tempo fuel gauge

I have a stainless steel fuel tank for my A4.

In the past I had noticed minor seeping around the tank mounted gauge.

I believe that it was suggested to use permatex (aviation thickened )
and place around the perimeter and the phillips screws.

The tank has a minor seep that I just noticed when fllling it.

By minor i note a gas smell when plqcing the nose a few inches from the
gauge. Rubbing the ss tank in the area has a trace of a film but no 'actual wet fuel,
The sealant I applied a season ago has disappeared as well as magic marker
points which were added at "true" gals points
Suggestions on what sealing as a temporary seal without removing screws
I will try tightening screws a little as well
appreciated

Some of the "old school" don't standup well to ethanol. I use Gasoila e-seal. It is made specifically for ethanol proof sealing. Google "Gasoila E-seal. There may be others that you can find with a bit of research.

Found it at walmart.
Is it compatible with gaskets and plastic parts of the tempo gauges?

Not sure this will work. There are several Gasoila products. Google "GASOILA E-SEAL". You need the can that says "GASOLIA E-SEAL" on it. It's all over the internet. It is made specifically for ethanol.
