Starting (and staying started) issue
Started the engine two weeks ago prior to sailing and it started and ran fine. Shut her down to grab some lunch and when we came back it would not start. Went through the troubleshooting steps (spark, compression, fuel in carb) and everything checked out.
This weekend, I removed the carb to clean the main jet and went ahead and checked everything. All apepared well. When I put it all back together, the engine would start for about 5 seconds and then just die. It would fire up quickly but wouldn't stay running. My next few steps will be do replace the inline filter and the water separator filter. If that doesn't work, then I'm thinking fuel pump (which is pretty old). Am I on the right track or should I be looking at something else?? I don't want to wasste time doing unnecessary things since every day I waste fixing something that doesn't need it is one less day out sailing!
