old style/new style
Can and old style manifold be used on a new style engine?
Also, can an old style direct drive be used on a new style engine? |

An early style manifold can be used on a late model engine, but you will have to figure out some way to install a fitting in the front port of the manifold to accommodate the coolant hose from the thermostat housing.
Direct drive reversing gear assemblies are the same on both early and late model engines. Best regards, Don Moyer |

Coolant hose
Don,
Do you have any suggestions on how I should try to connect the hose into the old style manifold? |

The simplest way to connect your manifold to the outlet of your thermostat housing would be to tap the hole in front of your manifold with a 1/2" pipe tap and install a 90 degree hose barb.
In case the cross-section of metal in front of your manifold is too thin to tap such a hole, you can have a flange made locally like the one pictured in our cross-over tube replacement kit. Best regards, Don Moyer |
