Question Altenator Fusing

I'm about to replace my 35 amp alternator with the 55. It will be wired from the alternator to the solenoid. Does this require fusing? If so, what size fuse would be suggested. I've heard 1.5 times the amperage, or in this case about an 80 amp fuse. Thoughts?

80 amps sounds about right. Make sure the wire is adequate as well, I would use 4 gauge myself.
