Fumes from new exhaust
Hello guys!
Skywalker here. Been a long time since I posted. Hope everyone is well. I recently had to rebuild my riser. Used black pipe. I've run the engine for about an hour and I'm still getting a lot of smoke/fumes from what I believe is the varnish burning off. My carbon monoxide sensor/smoke detector is giving me a "warning, fire!" signal, not a carbon monoxide warning. So i do not believe I have a exhaust leak. How long should I expect this situation to last? Thanks, as always. Chris Skywalker Tartan 27 249 |

Chris, did you wrap the new exhaust ? If so, what material did you use - some of the wrap choices can give off a smell for a long while.

My neighbor owns and steel manufacturing business. He told me that black pipe is finished with varnish and that it would burn off.
I wrapped the riser in the fiberglass tape sold by Moyer. I have done this project a few times over the years, but I don't recall this burn off lasting very long. |
