Talking

I guess I get to be third. I'm really glad to have others to talk to about common issues. I would like to know if anyone else has 2:1 reduction and what you get for cruising rpms?

HC. I have the 2:1 reduction and a two blade prop. I run 2000 to 2200 rpm normal cruising, 5 to 5.5 mph in calm, 2400 for a couple of hrs, 2500 or 2600 for less than an hour.As high as 2700 for short runs if needed. Does not sound bad at the higher rpms I just never pushed it any harder. The MC is not a Herreshoff but she is wood, one of a kind and designed by Charles Whittholz. Dan S/V Marian Claire

I have a cedar bucket. Does that count as owning a Herreshoff?

I was referring to L. Francis.

And his infamous "cedar bucket."

There is considerable similarity between our boats. Can you say what pitch and diameter is your prop?

HC: 14 Inch but I do not know the pitch. I have looked on the prop but have not found a # stamped. Dan S/V Marian Claire
