Reverse Problem Solved?

Over the weekend the transmission wouldn't shift into reverse ( the engine stalled out at about 3100rpm with no load)- it seemed like the throw of the gear lever was too short- i adjusted the length of the cable and it shifted into reverse.
is this the proper solution for my problem or did the transmssion need adjustment too?

A cable adjustment is perfectly OK to regain reverse as long as you also have good engagement of forward.

Yes- forward is fine and reverse seems to be good too.
