Fellow Afourians:

It's been a while since I've been here, and coming back brought a wave of happy nostalgia. Not the least of which was remembering my password ;>)

I started lurking on the forum in 2007 ish having purchased an old sailboat at a salvage auction. I come back to sell the boat, or rather the A4 engine, which is firmly mounted in a boat that it comes with. That is posted on the For Sale section.

It's been a long journey which needn't be shared here. I hope that I've contributed something of value, and I hope I didn't make too much of a mess. A pretty good goal for life in general.

I do sincerely appreciate all the support I've received here, and the general positive attitude and polite courtesy that is lacking in so many other places. This is a great forum.

Jeff, are you planning on another boat? I sold my E35MkII a few years back. I bought a Bene with a Yanmar diesel and I still get most of the boating and engine related info I desire here on this forum which is why I'm still participating here with a "stinker".

I do still have my MMI coffee mug. I have told a few who noticed the A-4 mug that I am planning on installing 2 Atomic 4's if I have trouble with the diesel. Boy do I get some looks and comments when I do.

This is by far the best boating forum I have seen, heard of or dealt with. Many good guys here and the forum is very well managed by the MMI staff.

Hi Dave - probably another boat.

I love sailing, but my next sail boat will be a Laser or something pure wet fun.

I'm looking at Grand Banks 32s very seriously now. The small cockpit and underdeck cave space of a sailboat just doesn't suit my 95% use case of afternoons with friends and the occasional weekend away. Things change....

The boat I've been using the most is my girlfriend's - an 18' Eastern center console. Boats that live on trailers don't give me the same anxiety ;>)

Bunny Planet, the boat doesn't matter, just as long as you can get out and play. All the best. I still have mine but I'm putting a few miles on the old body...bought my first sailboat when I was 39 and always looked at the old guys with admiration. Now the newbies come to me, phone rings etc...I became the old guy who wishes he was 39 again and know what I know now. Sail on friend...may the wind always be where YOU want it.

No More A-4

I would also like to thank this forum and all who have been so helpful over the years. I've sold my beloved 74 Cal 3-30 to my dock neighbor Roger (who always wanted it) and have purchased a new to me 1985 J35. The only problem (well most would not think its a problem) is the J boat came with a 3 cylinder Yanmar. Honestly after my smooth and quiet Atomic 4, this diesel thing is a strange adjustment. You start it up and it does not have a pleasing smooth and quiet sound. I suppose I'll get used to it but I miss my A-4.

Anyway, fair winds to all and keep those amazing little motors running properly

I kept my 1966 Morgan 34 for 40+ yrs for various reasons but one of the main reasons is the simplicity, reliability, longevity and the smooth running of the A4 even though for some they call it a "Demonic 4". I have a stand pipe exhaust system so I tend to be a little louder than most. When I am on friends boats with diesels I can't get use to the banging noise, the vibration & possible shaking and the down wind exhaust smell. Also, I can't help them with most problems. It is inevitable that is in my future but not anxiously looking forward to it. Good luck on the new boat.
