Junkyard find Oberdorfer...but what model?
I found this Oberdorfer pump installed on a 2 cylinder gas engine (Palmer maybe?) in one of our local pick-and-pull junkyards. (Don't ask me why there's 2 sailboats in the yard) I figured what the heck, maybe I'll rebuild it for the experience and then have a spare. After getting it home, I noticed the shaft is different from my other Oberdorfer despite looking outwardly identical. I haven't seen any other pictures that look like this. What model is this pump and is it usable in the A-4? I removed the grease cup btw.

Sure looks like "our" housing. Two questions: what is the condition of the bore in the casting? Is there wobble on the shaft? and, of course, are you prepared to spring for the rebuild kit (and shaft) from Moyer Marine?

No wobble so I think it's a worthy salvage. I guess it's not critical so I'll probably hold off on the $150 rebuild kit for now. For what it's worth, here is what it came out of...

That's got to be an interesting story - just how did that old boat and motor end up in Evergreen....

I'm hanging out with that bracket on the other pump in that picture.

I think I have a hinge just like that in my misc. junk hardware box. Left over from a pole barn project. I didn't know I was saving it for a movable pump bracket.
It must have been fun to work over that sawmill blade flywheel when the engine was running. Looks like a dirt bike rear sprocket.

notice the notches to hook up a rope for a pull start. But that is where the belt goes. who knows. Might be a fun engine to have in the garage next to my two atomic fours and 1930s out boards.

Evergreen does seem to have a Yacht Club (of sorts). https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ev...896558!6m1!1e1

It looks rather close to my Atomic-2 I found last fall, but the manifold is more like the Kermath. Here's my pump still on engine. The pretty gray engine is a photo of a Kermath nabbed from the web search. last pic is my A-4.
Lots of home-spun on that Colorado yacht!

This is when I know I have a problem as I was think " crap if that was closer I could go pull and rebuild it".

The author described a unit-less 'boat index' that was (combined waterline length of all boats) times (the number of boats), which allows for a sensible one or two boats, but escalates even a modest number of small boats into larger number. Say, anything over about 50 or 80 is a warning flag. But the kicker was this: "Can you see your boats on Google Earth?" PS: I don't think I have a problem, with a dock dingy, an RIB inflatable, a couple kayaks, and Bunny Planet, but my number is about 546. And the answer is yes.

I have 4 1/2 motorcycles in the garage in addition to my spare A4 and a W13. Another project would surely endanger my life, wifemwould kill me...
