Water pump oil seal Replacing
From what I've read, it seems any lettering on the seals needs to face into the pump. Does this pic mean it was installed wrong, and possibly the cause for leakage? It looks relatively new.
Also, just want to make sure the impeller shaft is supposed come out through the impeller side of the pump. It has been a beast trying to get out so wanted to confirm before putting in the vice or having it pressed out at a machine shop. Any wisdom helps! Thanks much |

That seal is supposed to prevent oil escaping from the engine and draining out the hole between the seals. It appears to be installed correctly.
