What if cooling was partially blocked?
What symptoms would you expect to see if the water passages around a cylinder were partially blocked? What would happen to the plugs? Effects on combustion, etc.? Any other problems you think could arise?
The drain plugs under my #1 and #4 cylinders were both clogged up with fine debris. They were clogged for a good portion of the way up the cylinder wall, but only on the "out" side, i.e. -where they meet up with the #2 and #3 cylinder was still exposed to cooling water. The engine wouldn't overheat since the open areas around the other cylinders would moderate the temps, but I'd think half of #1 and #4 cylinder would be suffering from a localized hot spot or thermal stress. I had some wierd issues with different heat range plugs and I'm not sure what was happening. Thanks, Micah |
