Choke orientation
I'm just finishing a carb rebuild, and I cant figure out how to put the choke back together.
Can someone explain to me the orientation of the choke valve relative to the choke rod? (I'm looking at figure 4 on page 4-3 of the moyer manual. In the drawing it looks like the orientation should be 1. Screws 2. Choke rod 3. Choke valve with the poppet valve on top and facing away from the intake. However, in this orientation, the screws dont hold the valve onto tue rod.) Thanks guys! |

When you install the choke valve the rod should already be in position. Make sure the flat side of the rod is up and tilt toward the opening so you can install the valve in it's closed position.

Thanks Hanley
Does that mean the round brass piece that connects to the poppet valve should face me (toward the opening)? And should the flat part of the poppet valve move toward me when the choke opens, or away from me? |

the poppet valve should let air enter the carb not out.

Yeah, I go downstairs to get something for one reason and just leave it in the office - never know when you might want to refer to it.

In order for me to take over Jerry's job I'd have to clean up my act - er, carb - er, {choke choke}...

okay got it back together!
The part I didn't understand was that you have to push on the spring/button thing in order for the choke rod to fit through that round brass piece. I saw that it didnt fit and then kept trying other orientations. Now ive just gotta get the carb back on the engine. Darn thing! One of the bolts is waay too short. Im not sure how it was even holding the carb onto the manifold in the first place. |

Thanks for the help guys. The carb is back on the engine!
I see the use in switching to studs, but for now I found a longer bolt and put it on. |
