Salvage Atomic Four Engine
Hey guys and gals. I purchased a house a few months ago and stumbled across an Atomic Four engine in the woods on my property. It appears to be in rough shape, but may be useful to one of you for parts. I'll be listing it on craigslist in the near future, but found this forum and thought one of the members would like to have it. Please make me an offer if you are interested. You will need to come get it...it's heavy.

State and city where the engine is located please since you are requesting the buyer pick it up at location. This information will help you sell the engine on other listings.

This A4 looks like it has gone feral.

I am interested. I plan to pass thru Durham next Monday but will be by myself. I have used a 2 by 10 as a ramp to "walk" an A-4 into the back of my car. Can you get a car close to it?

Well, if it helps anybody make a decision the A4 which looks like a dug up artifact is an early model- something around 1965 or prior. Still has a lower front block drain plug so hopefully water wasn't trapped in there many winters ago. Something that was eliminated on later models was the little hand pump pictured on the side of the oil pan -used to get the last pint of oil crud out that the a dipstick pump doesn't 't get.

We have a dolly/hand truck that can be used to get it from the yard to the driveway. If you want to discuss details, please text or call me at 814 860 9564. I appreciate the age estimation.

Keep digging around back there, maybe there's a boat too!
Looks like somebody tried to do some work on that engine with some newer stainless fasteners. There was probably a reason it ended up in the middle of the woods. |

MC, that should clean up just fine..the patina is probably protecting the metal underneath!
![]() It would be nice to know if it will turn over/isn't frozen/etc, but that hasn't stopped people like Dave Neptune before. ![]()
