Fuel Pump Valve Retention Clip

I rebuilt my fuel pump this past weekend using your kit and could have used a valve retention clip (or whatever it's called). When I unscrewed screw holding the clip, the clip was broken in half and I had to put it back in place by sandwiching it between a flat washer and a star lock washer.

Installing a broken valve retainer sounds like asking for future trouble. If MMI doesn't have the part available (wouldn't hurt to ask), I'd be inclined to whittle one out of a piece of steel.

You really have to love the mechanical pump to be going through all this. Keep your eye on the goal, reliable delivery of fuel to the carb. There is more than one way to achieve it.
