Chris, good to hear. Now that the engine is running and the oil is cleaned up think of the fuel. You don't need a bunch of additives mixing there either.
I suggest that you add some top oil only to any additional fuel. Run her fuel level down some first then add fresh regular grade fuel with some TCW-3 (synthetic 2-stroke) or MMO at 100;1 or a bit richer to keep the valves oil up good and to get the rust removed from the guides. I ran the TCW-3 for over 25 years with no issues and no other additives. You should be in good shape now so enjoy the boat. Dave Neptune |

Re: post #23
Ronstory, Working on that show from time to time was an absolute kick. Some of my favorite scenes were the ones where they would rock the camera to the right and have the actors run to the left side of the set and then do the exact opposite, "some of the magic of Hollywood". I've been retired for several years, but still enjoy thinking and talking about the good old days.

Tom--
Very, very *cool*. Any photos back from the day? I'm pretty sure my model of the Seaview is till in the parent's attic somewhere next to my old Tonka trucks.

Chris, I had the same problem. It may try to stick again as you loosen up the crud that got it stuck in the first place. For a while, when you know you won't be running the motor for a x days..do a little spritz and blip the starter with your handy new switch a couple revs to allow it to sit with some lube in the valve stems while stored. Everyone's idea of 'sitting' is different. My personal threshold was "well, I know I won't be back for 2 weeks, so let me squirt a little MMO in #4 before we go home".

Thank you!
@Dave Neptune - Excellent idea and info! I added 1:100 MMO after your first suggestion but my plan is to continue to do that at every fill-up. Bought a few bottles of MMO in prep Seriously - thank you so much! I owe you a beer or a bottle of wine
@sastanley - I had that same thought! I am normally run the engine every weekend (especially now that the days are warmer and longer) but there are times where I got other hobby obligations and cant make it down. That is an excellent and simple thing to add to the checklist when she is sitting. Thank you all! You guys are the best! |

Re: "Voyage to the Bottom of The Sea"
Ronstory, "On set" picture taking has always been a definite "no-no", so I have very few photos from "the biz". This policy was for publicity reasons to protect the secrecy of movies and TV shows before the actual screening date. It was much like Ford or Chevy hiding their new "September" body style unveiling. Almost all of the pictures I have are "crew photos", generally taken at the end of the production.
