Oberdorfer 202M7 Water Pump Impeller Replacement

I have an 202M7 Water Pump and have removed the impeller and shaft from the pump to change the impeller.

I have taken off the circlip but it seems that the impeller is stuck to the shaft and I can't seem to get these parts separated without causing damage to the shaft. I don't see any obvious signs of corrosion.

Any suggestions on getting these parts, apart? Would the impeller puller tool be helpful, if they are so tight together?

I'd use a hacksaw to split the hub of the old impeller.

If you are not in a really hurry to R&R, I have had success wrapping the shaft with cardboard for protection and dropping in loosely into a vise so the impeller rests across the top of the vise jaws. The shaft wrapped in cardboard hangs down between the faces of jaws and is loosely clamped to keep it from wandering off.

Next just soak it db blaster, kroil, etc and let it soak, ideally for day or two. The impeller rubber creates a small reservoir for the penetrating oil and now gravity is your friend.

After a suitable period, take a brass drift and start tapping the shaft out. The brass is softer than the shaft so no damage, except to the rubber impeller material... but it's garbage anyways.

If you don't have a drift, a good hardwood dowel or similar can work.

... and if no joy with this approach, follow Al's hacksaw plan. That will always works but be careful to don't score the shaft.
