I own a Pearson's 30 with a universal Atomic 4 gas engine and when i bought the boat the gentleman was working on something or other and the wiring system is taken apart. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a universal Atomic 4 gasoline engine, I guess model U J.

Oh boy, a pig in a poke!
Assume nothing. Based on that bare hull valve I'd question a water supply for cooling. How's the exhaust? How's the fuel supply?
Good thing about the wiring being apart is that when you put it together again, you'll know it's right. If you find something that looks like a trailer connector, throw it away.

So, it looks like you have a fairly un-decomposed engine. That is; it seems to be not too rusty. Good work on that.

The wiring as you have observed , is all messed up.
zip cord for home lamps aahhhhhh!
Start fresh. Take each system and redo it as you go. Don't get too depressed by thinking about the whole project. It will overwhelm you.
Some of our systems vary, so not only one answer may be spot on for this boat. Generally though, there is a best-practices diagram somewhere on this forum/website for each system. ie. , starting , charging, ignition, engine monitoring, blah, blah...
As Al noted, the non-electrical systems we see in the photos may be sub-standard too. Some good general boat advice can be had from this forum also.

Hope this is the beginning of a good journey for you .

Welcome to the forum,

Russ
