    Oil Filter

I have the Oil Filter system from Indigo installed by the previous owner. It's the end of the season now and I'm going to change the oil. Will any filter work? I could not find any info on the Indigo website.

My notes on my Indigo oil filter kit indicate the filter is a Fram PH3416.

IMHO Fram is not the best filter, I would try and find the Wix equivalent.

I have the Indigo filter system, and I use Fram PH3614, NOT PH3416. Was this a typo or do both filters work? On two trips down the ICW from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas and back, I've gone through two cases of the PH3614 without a single bit of trouble.

          Hello Ed.

Thank you for checking the Fram number I gave. Unfortunately I can't rule out a mistake in my notes, but I will check when I'm able to get back in the boat. My apologies to the original poster for any confusion I may have caused.

Calls out Fram PH3614 or equivalent.

              I confirmed with Indigo it's FRAM ph3614

For those who've installed the filter kit, is it worthwhile?

In my experience, yes, installing the oil filter kit was worth it. Installation was straightforward. Adding a T fitting to the oil feed line makes it easier to change the oil using a drill-powered oil pump. Adjusting the oil pressure is also easier using the Indigo kit. Given the time and energy involved in rebuilding the engine, to me it made sense to add the filter. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe Don Moyer mentions in an earlier thread that he installed the kit on his own A4.

And speaking of mistakes, Ed was right: the Fram oil filter number I gave earlier in this thread was a typo and *not* an equivalent part.

Yes. My oil looks brand new when I change it
Also makes a handy place to mount sensors
