Transmission loose engagement/slipping

My transmission slips unless I put a little pressure on the shifter. I had a mechanic come and do the adjustment on the transmission, but still have the same problem. Even with a little pressure on the shifter, it will disengage and engine will wind up if I throttle too much above an idle. Any ideas?
