Vinegar Flush Guidance!

I asked this question deep in an old thread, so sorry for the duplication as I put it up in lights...

Can I just run vinegar through the block in a warm-very warm engine until it comes out the exhaust. Shut down the motor, wait 24 hoursish and then replumb and voila?

Is there a drawback, are there any ramifications?

Second how do you remove the thermostat if you want to soak it in vinegar, and more importantly how do you pinch the bypass so you get vinegar everywhere it needs to go?

Yes, to just running the vinegar thru the block and leaving 24-48 hrs.
(Use 2 or 3 gallons)
Remove the thermostat and soak separately in a bowl of vinegar.
(Not sure if that's your question. Did you mean HOW to remove?)
Pinch the incoming hose to the thermostat (left side of therm as you face from the flywheel) with vise grips. (Use a rag between the jaws and the hose)

No drawback. Just a cleaner cooling system!
