API 55 amp alternator on this site

Is that alternator sufficient for my set-up ?

For a starting battery and two other batteries acting as the house circuit for a total of 3 size 24 batteries.

At present i have 1 starting battery and 1 house battery with the original motorola 35 amp alternator. And intend to add another battery to make a house bank of two.

The API 55 is sufficient for your set-up.

I have the same 55amp MMI alternator on my vessal and find that it works well with my two bank setup (one 24 & one 27)...

...I run my alternator output to a automatic 2-bank battery isolater which then feeds the batteries on an as required basis without the weak battery discharging the charged battery.
