block pressure test
I just finished a block pressure test.
Pumped the block through a schrader valve and pressure gauge to 20 psi. I lost 4.5 psi in 30 min. That doesn't sound good to me but I really don't know. Also, my wife was watching as I pumped up the block. She said that as I was pumping, water was spitting out of the intake of the exhaust manifold, where the hose from the thermostat attaches. Is this possible and if so is does it point to where my problem is? Chuck |

Sure sounds suspicious. Perhaps all you need is a new manifold? Why not test the manifold separately? Don't even have to unbolt it from the block.

Exactly where was the water leaking from at the exhaust manifold? Perhaps all you need is to tighten the clamp or install a new hose thermostat -> manifold?

John
The water was coming from the exhaust manifold where the hose from the thermostat connects. With each stroke of the pump that I was using to pressurize the block a bit of water came out. Al How would I test the manifold? Schrader valve on the input from the thermostat and plug the exhaust? |

Check the manifold via the "water inlet and exit port" on the top of the manifold.
