Which Alternator do I have?

If there is anyone that can ID this alternator for me I would greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone happens to know what I could replace the VR (VSH 6201N, Prestolite) with, that would also be helpful, I can't seem to source one, or have time to modify a different unit to make work. They are OS/NA from every supplier I have reached out to. I am in Toronto BTW if anyone has a spare they are willing to part with. Thanks.

Are you dead set on keeping this alternator? Why not replace it?

I do want to replace it, but I would like to know what it is first. I will rebuild it over the winter and keep as a spare. It doesn't seem to match any other photos I have seen online. The boat is built '67, so it's certainly an older piece of gear.

Again, just my opinion but the costs of rebuild vs. replace are probably a wash unless you're attached to it as a museum piece. Whatever you decide to do be certain the end result is ignition protected to SAE Standard J1171. That is, any old alternator rebuilder might not know the difference.

I would also suggest a new alternator and a lot of the wiring in that photo looks beat too.

Arizona Outboards claims to have it in stock:

They are in Australia, so shipping cost might be a deal breaker.

JustPartsInc also has it too:

It looks like it cross references to a Leece Nevelle 8-352

I vote for replacement with a J1171 alternator. That unit doesn't seem to have the necessary spark protection to be safe.
