A no start condition after overhaul is frustrating - to say the least. My first rebuild (many years ago, not an A4) also had a no go condition.
Diagnostic tools? My favorite is a can of starting ether. It will tell you whether you're dealing with a fuel issue or a spark issue. Take it from there.
