Hey everybody,
I am selling my 1973 Automic Four Series II that came out of my Catalina 27'
It has been totally torn down and cleaned,
it is completely apart, it needs a cyl head, and exhaust manifold.
Other than that everything is in fine shape.
Block has been tested and passed, no weakness or damage to block.
Engine is sitting on pallet with all parts labled and packed in a crate to be shipped.
I'm asking $300. OBO for it.
Buyer pays shipping.
Make offers please,
Thank you and God Bless

Broken crankshaft!

I have late model A4 with a broken crank. Would love to rebuild this motor as a learning project as it is the same as is installed in my Pearson 30 but money is a problem. Does anyone want to sell me a crankshaft so I can get this project going? Annapolis md.

Hi MattMon,

I have a spare crank here, but I am not sure if it is any good as it has some rust on one of the main journals. I do not know if a machine shop could clean it up or not, perhaps with oversized bearings it could be ground down and used.

I also have another "parts" engine that came with my boat, all the external peices are removed, but the block has not been opened yet. The crank in there might be in better shape, and I'd be happy to sell it. If your interested, I could get it out in the next day or two and take a look.

Here's some pics of the crank I have out now... perhaps someone else will chime in on whether it is salvageable or scrap metal.

Talking

That crank is probably OK but get some oil on it ASAP! Sop it down with oil and store it high and dry in plastic.

I love it when people get to point out the obvious because I totally missed it Now well sopped in oil, rather then sitting around trying to get even more damaged, like I should have done a long time ago... DOH!

May be I'll go ahead and haul it to the shop to see what they can do.

Thanks!

Still Looking for a Crank?

mattmon, are you still looking for a crank?

I have a good crank, no corrosion or signs of wear on the journals. One thread where the flywheel nuts attach is a little buggered. I can get pictures if you need them.

engine

As you all can see she came out looking a lot better than when I first started . The shop has asked to move this as soon as possible.
If it doesn't sell as parts for a decent price, I will complete the rebuild & sell it as a whole engine.
Thanks again for all the advice and interest.
God Bless

Question

Chappy...how heavy is the block by itself? Can you ship it? You are too far away for me to drive!

How do we figure out shipping cost?

Update,

Hey folks,
I hope I am able to help many of you with parts needed.
just please bear with me,
as I am not always able to check online as often as I would like.
Have been sick the last few days and trying to get over nasty cold.
Hope everybody else is doing well,
And please feel free to ask any questions for parts you need.
for those of you that I talked with befor,
I am sorry if I didnt get back to you in time or if you found what you needed else where.
I have a list of parts/prices from the garrage.
I hope they are compatable with cost of parts elsewhere.
please contact me with needs and we can negotiate a fair value amount for each part.
Thanks all, and have a good evening.
God Bless

if it works out great...if not maybe someone closer will enjoy it!

hope you are feeling better...down here, we've got the pollen and allergy season coming on!
