Runs on choke only

Hey guys,
Margarita has been running great for the past year or so, but I just recently ran into a problem. First she would not start, so I removed the drain plug on the bowl and flushed it out with carb cleaner. Took 5 minutes and she ran great all day. Next day, she would only run on full choke. Once again I removed the drain plug, ran the fuel pump but this time, she still only runs on full choke. Do I need to pull the carb and clean the main seat? If so, should I get a gasket kit before hand? I rebuilt the carb just a little over 2 years ago. Thanks!!

Something is plugging up the carb or possibly restricting fuel flow. If you do pull the carb I always recommend a new gasket.

If the fuel bowl has fuel and you need the choke to run something is plugging the carb inside. If the bowl has little fuel then it could just be a plugged filter doing it's job.

It is not uncommon for a piece of fuel hose to be cut out by a sharp barb fitting and then get into the carb. If you do pull the carb clean it good and do use compressed air to blow out the passages thoroughly!

Running like brand new!

Thanks Dave. I pulled the carb, cleaned, reinstalled. I did not have a gasket set, but they looked good. I will order a set this week to have for future use.
