Start Up Water Flow
My first spring commissioning and I'm wondering how long to run before I get water flow from the exhaust outlet? I had an initial flow then nothing. How long can I run from cold before I should expect water from the outlet? What are possible causes?

In a late model engine, you should observe a full flow from your exhaust system at all times. In an early model, you may see very little flow from the exhaust until the engine warms up.
If you have a late model engine, your pump may have cavitated for some reason during the launching operation. I would remove the hose from the inlet fitting on the thermostat housing and run the engine for a few seconds to determine whether or not you have flow to that point. If you do, reconnect the hose and check for flow out of the exhaust again. Regards, Don |
