To add to Ed's comments..The solution for that small bit of leftovers could be a couple of those absorbing petrol pads + a tupperware can dump the stuff (or the whole funnel) into it until you are away enough from land you can let it evaporate without upsetting anyone. I keep fresh ones in a ziploc bag, but my 'in-use' pads are in a tupperware that could hold the funnel. Any "Clean Marina" has tons of these...I lay them around my fuel fill to catch any splashes and try to keep gas out of the Bay.
