Once the water's injected, the exhaust temp should be reduced, so any length of rubber hose should be fine, as long as you can physically manipulate it into place. If the hose is really short, you may be forced to clamp it onto the hot stack first, slide it down onto the waterlift, and then attach the hot stack to the manifold.

This may be difficult if you are using studs on the manifold (recommended) rather than screws.
