    Rear oil seal leak

Has anyone used a “rear main seal repair” type additive in there A 4? The rear seal was one thing I did not replace when I rebuilt the engine. I have checked and rechecked to make sure it is the real seal and not some other oil leak. Would like to give the old seal a chance before replacing it. I only have a few hrs on the rebuild so maybe more running time will help?

    oil leak

the rear oil seal should be replaced ,its not easy but it can be done if you have the room ,if not you may have to pull the motor to gain access ,be sure and check the bearing while your in there . fair winds adab1402

      Rear seal

Thanks for the input. I do have room to remove the reduction gear with out pulling the engine and have talked to Don about how to proceed. I did replace the main bearing during the rebuild. The reduction gear was cleaned and set aside for 4 weeks during the rebuild. Maybe I should have let it soak in oil to prevent it from drying out. Plan to wait until after storm season before I disable the boat again. Thanks Dan
