    Replacing raw water impeller

I am wondering if it would be worth it to fill my inlet side hose with water before attaching. That woul give me less time spinning a dry impeller. My last one lasted about 1 year. I did not lube it and it was shredded.

Adding the water won't hurt anything and may help depending on location to the waterline of the boat. Also a bit of Vaseline, grease or water pump lube on the impeller itself. Saves any rubbing until primed saving the impeller from a dry start.
